Bio

Joy Cornelia is a Canadian-based musician looking to spread Jesus’ love through her life and love of music. She has been trained as a pianist, guitarist, singer, and songwriter, and holds a Diploma of Songwriting from Prairie College. Influenced by jazz harmonies and warm lo-fi textures, Joy uses indie pop to reflect on life and faith.

Music has been a consistent place of refuge in Joy’s life as a way to process and express both emotions and experiences in a meaningful way. At the center of her music is connection. She writes with openness and vulnerability, inviting listeners to find pieces of their own story within hers.

Joy’s experience in facilitating high school choir classes, leading a travelling team of musicians, and performing in various settings has helped her grow both personally and professionally. Through her training in musical improvisation and musical conversation, she has found passion to wholeheartedly pursue her career as an artist. In the future, Joy hopes to continue composing songs and playing in a variety of bands. It is her goal to connect with each audience through her musical storytelling, showing them that they are not alone in life.
